Rec+ Advantage

Rec+ Program Goals

The Rec+ program will focus on player development and introduce families to events with clubs from other communities with an eye towards transitioning to our club’s traveling program.

Design

The Rec+ program will participate in the summer recreation program schedule and will additionally train on Sunday’s with MTA Club Trainers. During the week players will train and compete with their team. On Sunday’s, the Rec+ players will be put into a group mixing players together from the teams.

The Rec+ program may compete in events with outside competition.   For these events a Rec+ team may be created.

What makes the MTA REC Program Different than Other Rec Programs?

Coaches + Age Appropriate Curriculum + Flexibility = Great Experience For Everyone

Coaches:  MTA has coaches who understand how to work with younger players and enjoy working with younger players.

Age Appropriate Curriculum: MTA has been developing players who love the game of soccer for over 20 years and we have developed games that are appropriate to build each players skill level and make them fall in love with the game of soccer.

Flexibility: Our Skillzys program understands each child is playing soccer for a different reason.  Some players play because they want to participate in a fun activity with their friends.  Other kids play soccer because they enjoy competing against other kids who challenge them.  Our program is designed to make sure that all the different types of kids enjoy their soccer experience.

Skill Building

Each week, players will work on skills and training.  During Skill Building, players will focus on becoming more athletic through Speed, Agility and Quickness training as well as Individual Technical Development that will lead to a life time of enjoyment of the game of soccer.

Game Day

Game Day will consist of two teams playing one another in a frienly and safe environment.  Scores will not be kept so the focus is on equal play time and successfully using the skills from training days in a game setting.

Team Formation

We will place players on teams before the season starts but players may switch teams and groups throughout the season in order for a competitive balance.  Our goal is to create games each week where all the kids will enjoy playing.  At the end of the day we want each player to enjoy their experience.

Volunteer Coaches Wanted

With our Skillzys program we are looking for parents who would like to be involved with their son or daughter's teams.  Every team needs to have one parent volunteer coach within the program.  The training and games will be led by MTA Coaches and Players and our Parent Coaches will be a constant connection to their team's players and be a team leader.

Skillzys Development Program
Taking REC To The Next Level

The Skillzys® Development programs are designed to teach proper technique through training activities and then provide a game like environment where kids can Show Their Skills!

Our Skillzys® programs are designed to work with our DinoMites and The Future! programs to build on the skills learned in those classes while providing small sided games (3v3, 4v4, 6v6) to allow kids to play real games while learning how to become a great player!

There is a difference between technique and skill. All the technical skill in the world doesn’t help players if they cannot put the technique to use under the pressures of actual game competition. Technique is learned, and that learning happens on the training fields. Skill is also learned, and the best way to develop skill is through practice in real game situations. Skillzys® facilitate parents and coaches to help their young players focus on this skill development, help encourage the attempt of this skill, and allow recognition of successful skill execution regardless of the final score in any youth soccer match. This focus, encouragement, and recognition help breed confidence, excitement, and passion for the game in all players, ensuring a positive youth soccer experience for all.

Think of Skillzys® as Boy or Girl Scout merit badges, but for sports.

With a similar size and feel of a typical credit card, Skillzys® are award-winning, high-quality, colorful, plastic bag tags depicting individual sports techniques, basic tactical ideas, or positive character traits. Young athletes earn Skillzys® by successfully executing a specific technique or tactic or by demonstrating a particular trait under the real-time pressures of match competition.
