Tyler Anderson faced a difficult decision after his junior year at Jefferson High School. Should he remain a member of the Jaguar boys soccer team or try to enhance his skill levels while competing with the Minnesota Thunder Development Academy’s under-17/18 squad.
Anderson was a major contributor and starter on the Jefferson soccer team during his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. But he decided to accept the challenge of competing for Minnesota Academy and that decision made him ineligible for his senior varsity season at Jefferson.

Anderson, a center midfielder, missed out on playing with his former Jaguar teammates in the state high school tournament last fall. But he doesn’t regret his decision to join the Minnesota Thunder program. He believes he earned a Division I college soccer scholarship at the University of Michigan partly because of his association with the Thunder.

“It was hard not being part of Jefferson’s state tournament team last fall,” said Larson. “But playing for Minnesota Thunder Academy helped showcase me to college coaches.  “We played a league schedule against teams from Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin and participated in tournaments all around the country.  “That is how University of Michigan coaches found out about me. They watched me play with the Minnesota Thunder. Then they gave me a call and offered me a scholarship. I accepted their offer because of Michigan’s strong academic and athletic programs,” added Anderson.
