The Minnesota Thunder Academy provides development programming for all interested players ages 4 to 19 while also focusing on the development of the elite players and their quest to play at the highest level possible.
We believe that through our youth programming we will identify and filter out the very best of Minnesota’s best and help them fulfill their dream of top level soccer competition. We will also help develop thousands of players along the way.
Elite Development Progam
Run through the MTA Elite Academy this program focuses on the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development of Minnesota’s top U13 to U19 players. Our philosophy here is that Minnesota’s top players develop best when surrounded by other talented players and under the guidance of highly qualified coaches.
US Soccer Development Academy
US Soccer’s new elite development program, the US Soccer Development Academy features some of the most challenging national competition for the U16 and U18 boys age groups.
Elite Clubs National League
The ECNL is a national youth soccer league founded in 2009 for U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-18 girls’ teams (U18 teams added in 2010) for the purpose of providing the highest level of competition and the best developmental environment for American female youth soccer players, as well as an identification and development program, which will seek to include players in US Soccer’s National Teams.
Regional Development Programs
These programs target the development of the U8 to U19 competitive players through our Regional Academies (North, South, East, West).
Within these Academies we will offer all levels of MYSA competitive play, from Classic 3 to Premier.
Elite Juniors Program In conjunction with our Regional Academies (North, South, East, West), we offer our Elite Juniors program for the more dedicated competitive players interested in structured year-round involvement with the sport. Open to all interested players at the U8 to U12 competitive age groups, this program will build a solid technical foundation in all participants, helping to ensure future soccer success.
Geared to the 4 to 8 year old recreational players, the Rec program looks to help these players build a passion for the game through a connection with professional players and staff.
Moreover, for established recreational programs looking to affiliate with the Thunder Academy, we offer program structure and experienced consultation. Within this we will provide instruction and guidance to volunteer coaches as well as technical development and positive role models for the players.
