CHICAGO (April 2, 2013) – U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach Richie Williams has named 20 players to the U.S. roster for the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in Panama City, Panama.
The U.S. is looking to qualify for its 15th straight FIFA U-17 World Cup, which runs from Oct. 17 to Nov. 8 in the United Arab Emirates. The four teams that advance to the CONCACAF U-17 Championship semifinals advance to the U-17 World Cup.
“We feel like we’ve got a great group of guys that have been able to gain great experience at an international level,” Williams said. “Now it comes down to the most important international tournament, and that’s the qualifying. Obviously this is where it all counts. Either you move on to the World Cup or you come back home. We feel like they’re ready and we’ll go out there and do our best.” (Q & A with Richie Williams)
