U13 Girls Dominate the NSC Cup
The U13 girls pool group split into two teams for the NSC Cup and they dominated the proceedings.
In group play the teams combined to score 17 goals and give up 0.
The semis saw more offense and stifling defense as Nike won 4-0 vs Wayzata. Swoosh beat FC Northwest (Canada) 3-0 to set up the all MTA Final.
The final was a tale of two halves. The first half saw Swoosh consistently play the ball through their central players and control the game. Swoosh was rewarded with multiple corner kicks and Kat scored to give Swoosh the 1-0 half time lead.
Coach Fischer made a great adjustment in the second half to take away the middle of the field from Swoosh and Nike really took it to Swoosh and created numerous second half chances but Swoosh goalie Cecile, stood tall in net and preserved her 5th shutout of the weekend.
This event continues to show the quality of the U13 Pool group. Both groups moved the ball very well, scored goals, and played great defense. We have been able to implement a style of play throughout the age group where we can put any combination of players on the field and they will represent the entire group in positive way. Having depth is crucial as we prepare to compete in the MRL and ECNL next year and this group will continue to develop their style of play and continue to be successful. -U13 Coach Andy Kaasa
