US Soccer Development Academy – Overview
The US Soccer Development Academy (DA) is a partnership between U.S. Soccer and the top youth clubs around the country to provide the best youth players in the U.S. with an every day environment designed to produce the next generation of National Team players. The DA is the highest level of male youth soccer competition in the United States.
The US Soccer Development Academy’s philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition.
MTA is proud to be the only Twin Cities metro area club to have boys teams at all levels of the US Soccer Development Academy.
In addition to competition and training, the US Soccer Development Academy connects national team coaches directly with the academy clubs to develop and identify players and coaches for future youth national teams. Each academy team is evaluated by a member of the men’s scouting network at least ten times each year and each US Soccer Development Academy club receives two formal evaluations in over 100 categories each year from U.S. Soccer’s technical staff.
Teams are based in the Twin Cities metro area. Players include those from hometowns in the Twin Cities as well as out-state Minnesota.

Development Academy FAQ
Financial aid may be available to those that qualify. An application with proof of income must be presented to the MTA Board of Directors on a yearly basis. There are also opportunities for players/teams to participate in fundraisers to help curb costs.
MTA is home to many players who participate in multiple sports and MTA celebrates the multi-sport athlete experience. The desire is that the player is respectful of the commitment to the team and be present at most team events. Athletes playing in the US Soccer Development Academy, ECNL, MTA Elite Academy, MTA Junior Academy, MRL, MYSA Premier, or MYSA Classic 1 level must be willing to be at a vast majority of the team’s training sessions and competitive events. The cost is the same for players who attend all events and those who attend on a less regular basis.
