A Unique Father & Son Soccer Experience

Join us for an exceptionally unique soccer camp that will build lasting memories and fine-tune your soccer skills.

MTA’s Father & Son Soccer Camp is designed to meet the goals of having a good time and developing skills of kids and adults. Each participant will receive individual and group instruction in a fun environment designed to help kids maximize their playing potential. Dad can shake off some rust and learn (or relearn) skills from some of the best coaches available. Dads, there is no need for you to have a soccer background – everyone is welcome! Players and parents will be placed into groups that allow each player to be appropriately challenged.

Note: MTA Father & Son Camp is normally held as a 3-day overnight camp at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Due to Covid restrictions, Camp was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. We are excited to return to St. Olaf in 2022!

** Bring your friends! Open to MTA and non-MTA families

Thanks for a fun time! Join us again for FATHER & SON CAMP 2023!

MTA Programs

Minnesota Thunder Academy was created as a model for player development based on the structure of successful European and South American academies.  MTA’s model for player development has proven successful with more players advancing to play collegiately, professionally, and on national teams than any other club in the Upper Midwest.

Ages 8 through 12 are the most critical development years of a soccer player’s career. It is at these ages where the basic fundamental skills of soccer are mastered that allow players to compete and be successful as soccer players at the next level of play and where they develop a true love for the game.  This year-round program is designed for players ages 8-12 years old who have a higher level of ability, commitment, and interest level in soccer. This program helps prepare players who aspire to play on MTA's Boys ECNL, Girls ECNL or Minnesota NPL teams (Boys & Girls). Learn more about the MTA Junior Academy >>
The Minnesota NPL program at MTA typically consists of two teams at each age-group (U13-U19), one per gender. All teams train year-round, consistently challenge for State championships, and compete against regional and national opponents.  No Minnesota club has been more successful at developing elite players and teams than MTA. Minnesota Thunder Academy is proud to be the only Minnesota club selected to compete in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) with both Boys' and Girls' teams. In 2009, the Minnesota Thunder Academy girls program was announced as an inaugural member club of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), the highest level of female youth soccer in the United States. ThunderBolts Development Academy is designed to lay a foundation for the love of soccer, self-discovery and independence for boys and girls ages 6-8. With a focus on technical skills training, the goal is to allow ThunderBolts players to become very comfortable with a ball and eventually be able to make natural decisions based on confidence and skill.
