ECNL Regional League (Girls)
What is the ECNL Regional League?
The ECNL Regional League is a national league system operating under the Elite Clubs National League. Designed to foster player development and provide a competitive platform, the ECNL- RL offers a crucial pathway to the ECNL. MTA girls have the opportunity to compete in the ECNL-RL Twin Cities (previously NPL Super).
MTA and the ECNL Regional League
All Minnesota Thunder Academy’s Girls’ teams will compete in the ECNL-RL Twin Cities (previously NPL Super). Our Girls’ teams are not able to play in the ECNL-RL Midwest conference in addition to the ECNL-RL Twin Cities conference like our Boys’ team do. This is due to the fact that the other teams in the Midwest conference play their High School seasons opposite of Minnesota teams (Spring season vs Fall season)
Benefits
- Access to ECNL-RL showcase events.
- More post-season pathways: ECNL- RL Twin Cities league winners will advance to the ECNL-RL postseason, held in June.

Team
ECNL-RL Twin Cities Teams will be teams who played NPL Super in the previous season. We expect to a have a team in each age group of the ECNL-RL Twin Cities Conference.
Training
Training Frequency: average 3-4 contacts per week.
Training Locations: Academy of Holy Angels (Richfield) and MTA Winter Park Training Facility (Eden Prairie)
All ECNL-RL players are strongly encouraged to sign up for Performance Training with Training HAUS, powered by Twin Cities Orthopedics. MTA players are offered discounted registration, and can train with TrainingHAUS before or after team training at our Winter Park facility.
Fees
Please see the Girls Team Expectations page under the Tryouts menu for current season information.
Uniforms, team events, tournament registration fees, coach travel and personal travel expenses are not included in player fees.
National Events
MTA Girls ECNL-RL teams will typically participate in 1-2 ECNL-RL National events per year in addition to ECNL-RL Twin Cities conference games and ECNL-RL post-season play (if the team qualifies).
Girls ECNL-RL National events are typically held in November, December, January, April, and May. The national and showcase events we will be participating in are currently to be determined.
League
31 Twin Cities-based clubs currently within the Minnesota NPL structure will have a clear and performance-based path to earn a spot in the ECNL Regional League Girls – Twin Cities. Representatives of the ECNL Regional League Girls – Twin Cities for the 2025-26 season will be based on performance during the 2024-25 soccer year.
