MTA Players Making National Waves in January 2026
This January has already brought tremendous pride for Minnesota Thunder Academy, with three players earning national team call-ups across U.S. Soccer national teams – demonstrating the quality of development happening within the club and the pathways available for committed players.
Maddie Dahlien has achieved a major milestone by earning her first senior U.S. Women’s National Team call-up for the January 2026 training camp in California, where the USWNT will prepare for international friendlies against Paraguay and Chile later this month. Dahlien is among several talented players invited to train with the senior squad under head coach Emma Hayes as part of this early-season camp experience. Dahlien will be the fourth MTA grown player to represent the full senior women’s national team. U.S. Soccer
From the men’s side, Ian Shaul has been named to the U20 Men’s National Team for the combined U-18, U-19, and U-20 domestic training camp in Mesa, Arizona. This camp brings together top youth players from across the U.S. development landscape and is part of the broader pathway toward elite international competition. U.S. Soccer
On the girls’ youth side, Carolyn Voss has received a call-up to the U16 Girls’ National Team, traveling to Spain for a training camp and three international matches against Germany and Belgium. This opportunity gives Voss a chance to compete at the international level as part of the U-16 program, a key step in the U.S. Soccer youth pathway. SoccerWire
These achievements reflect the commitment, development, and competitive excellence that MTA emphasizes for every player. We are incredibly proud of Maddie, Ian, and Carolyn as they represent the club on the national stage — forging their paths and inspiring younger players throughout the academy.
